I began my journey in the spotlight thanks to my mother – gracing runways and print ads across the Asia-Pacific together, where maintaining peak physical health became second nature. Winning Miss Cebu 2016 opened doors to represent Cebu’s vibrant culture and champion causes close to my heart: empowering women and youth through weightlifting, promoting waste management, and supporting remote communities through marine conservation.
These initiatives were funded by my business, BaBeBoBs Beauty and Fitness Consultancy, which I ran from 2017 to 2023. I provided customized nutrition and fitness coaching to clients across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America. My evidence-based programs were shaped by certifications as a natural farmer, IYC Japan-certified Ashtanga and restorative yoga teacher, Barbell Rehab strength coach, and AIDA 2 freediver – all rooted in a commitment to holistic wellness. I also contributed health and wellness articles to publications across Asia and Europe; and delivered two TEDx talks before 20-years-old. My 2021 lecture at the Lyceum of the Philippines University was cited in Cambridge Professor Lieven’s book In the Shadow of the Gods.
The pandemic rewrote my script. After moving to Japan, I took on new roles as an orator, business management consultant, and co-founder of a creative venture, while composing music and planting seeds for deeper academic exploration. I pursued a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition and Exercise) at the University of South Australia. In 2022, I returned to Australia as a UniSA Vacation Research Scholar, contributing to three peer-reviewed publications on nurses’ sleep, with three more under review. My efforts earned the UniSA+ Award for over 120 hours of community engagement and the ASPIRE Platinum Award for leadership.
In 2024, I received the prestigious New Colombo Plan Scholarship from DFAT to study Nutritional Epidemiology and Trauma, Diversity, and Resilience at National Taiwan University. During this time, I completed Mandarin language training and internships focused on Indigenous health and environmental care.
Since February 2025, I’ve worked as a Clinical Trials Research Assistant at SAHMRI, contributing to improve nutrition strategies for premature and low birthweight infants. In May, I was awarded a Commonwealth Research Training Program Scholarship to pursue a Master of Philosophy (by research) at Bond University’s Faculty of Health Science and Medicine. In June and July, I was selected as one of only 40 global research participants in the Healthy Longevity Talent Incubator at the National University of Singapore, where I presented findings to government stakeholders and received the Best Presentation Award from Member of Parliament Mr. Henry Kwek. In August, I earned my qualification as an Associate Nutritionist from the Nutrition Society of Australia.
This website is where my worlds converge – a space to share insights on managing chronic conditions like eczema through rejecting the victim mentality and embracing a growth mindset. My upcoming MPhil research explores how trauma can be addressed through diet, exercise, sun exposure, sauna use, and creative arts.
I hope my journey inspires you to thrive in the face of adversity and rediscover vitality through the beauty of exploration, lifelong learning, and self-discovery.
